Shazam Streams Full Tracks From Rdio

via Engadget

Shazam has linked out to Rdio for a while now, but the tune-identification app would boot you out to access a full track.

With a recent update though, the software now streams songs it identifies from Rdio’s library from within, so long as you have a subscription.

Those who have yet to pay up will still get a preview, but selecting the aforementioned repository from the listening options will only prompt you to download its app.

Those who do shell out the monthly fee need only to link the two apps in order to take advantage. Shazamed tracks are automatically sorted inside their own playlist for later access, while an “Add to Playlist” button lets you chose more appropriate destinations.

While the iOS version is available now, folks who carry Android devices can expect it to arrive “in the next few days.”

Paypal’s App Can Save Your Loyalty Cards

via Engadget

If Joe’s Diner gives you a free slider every ten meals, you may no longer need to schlep around a punch card if you use PayPal.

It’s latest iOS app now works with loyalty cards from select retailers just by scanning a barcode on your physical card. That’ll save it into your PayPal wallet in a similar way to Apple’s Passbook and Microsoft’s Wallet, letting you score discounts or other deals.

The company also squashed a few bugs and killed the old-school check-scanning feature. So far, the update applies only to iOS devices, but we’d imagine it’ll hit Android soon as well.

EU Ruling Allows Apple To Trademark Store Layout

Apple’s stores are highly distinctive, so much so that other companies have taken a similar approach to their own store layouts. Germany’s patent office rejected a patent application that was made by Apple last year for it’s stores, despite admitting that the retail layout was “an essential aspect of (its) business.”

There have been plenty of requests for BBM to come to Windows Phone after it arrived on iOS and Android some time ago, lord knows why though because I am still struggling to find people who use BBM these days. They must be out there somewhere though because the request for BBM has been so high.
